   I COLLABORATOR CASE STUDY

It is an application designed to allow organizations worldwide, secure, real time communications and voice/data exchange capability. I-Collaborator has been structured upon the T2 real time platform. Unlike other real time communication systems, I-Collaborator has been designed from ground-up to ensure superior security, compliance and rules-based access for its users. The future enhancements will include bridges to public messengers thereby, so to speak, " taming of the shrew" for businesses.

The Given

In its previous iteration, I-Collaborator (then known as Tandem) was dependant on DirectX technology for exchange of messages and voice. The customers' wished to base their technology upon something more sturdy, something which was less proprietary. The old Tandem had bloated with functionality, threading for multiple tasks was poor. While very functional, the platform was architecturally weak due to use of disparate components and technologies.

The Needs

We researched the domain, the competing technologies, direction of the industry. Our engineers studied the intricacies of the technology and the exacting demands for security and compliance, need for speedy exchanges plus the need to plug-in applications for the future. The customer also needed to discrete design so as to be able to license components to developers.

Re-engineering I-Collaborator

We wrote the core communication layer in C# sockets. This was done to ensure superior performance based on the need to futurize and the ability to compile the core platform for minimized platform dependency in deployment. The re-engineering is an ongoing exercise and the project was broken down into the following parts:
